Design Draughtsmen in the field of machine and systems engineering implement constructional specifications into plans and technical documentation. Whether production lines, machines or the adaptation of small components – no new technology can become visible without your prior input.

At Schoeller you will receive a practice-relevant apprenticeship, which will give you the necessary know-how not only on a computer but also on our machines and production facilities. During your training, amongst others on the shop floor, you will learn how to devise layouts and detailed plans for machines and facilities with the help of modern computers and CAD systems.

Scope of Apprenticeship

The aim is to obtain the following skills and knowledge:

  • Preparation of drawings with the help of modern 2D/3D CAD systems, as well as generation of technical documentation
  • Work in various technical departments
  • Cross-professional insights into the basics of metal working, welding technology and electrical engineering, as well as pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Planning and management of work procedures, control and evaluation of work results

Vocational School

The curriculum of the vocational school will be taught at the Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg, Eitorfer Straße 18-20, 50679 Cologne in block courses.

Duration of Apprenticeship

The entire vocational training lasts 3 1/2 years and ends with the final exam at the IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) Cologne. Relevant previous qualification and good performance can lead to a reduction of the overall duration.

Employment Requirements

  • Advanced technical college entrance qualification or graduation from a one- or two-year technical college.
  • Good knowledge of maths and physics, computer literacy
  • Technical understanding, spatial sense, diligent working practices, creativity, flexibility, team capabilities, ability to communicate and work independently
